Originally slated as a PlayStation 4 launch title, given free with the PlayStation Plus program, DriveClub has been pushed back off from multiple release dates for quality assurance. This Fall may be the light at the end of the tunnel for those waiting, as Amazon has given clues of a true release date.

Officially listing a new release date of September 30th, 2014, Amazon.com has changed its placeholder date for the headlining racer sim. That being true, Amazon also has been informing customers on NeoGaf who have already pre-ordered the title that DriveClub has been given a release date between October 3rd and the 7th.

Another date push for DriveClub may be in order and the title could come later still, as Sony Worldwide Studios America representative Scott Rohde said the game went “back to the drawing board” some time ago.

“It all comes back to that fundamental principle, and that’s that we want to build great games. And we really don’t want to release a game before it’s ready.

Sometimes, this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we get closer, we realize that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready.

“So, I think that at PlayStation, perhaps more than at other places, we’re willing to kind of eat that [cost] and go back to the drawing board and make sure the game is great before we ship it. And that’s what’s going on right now with that game.”
