Making room to ensure a proper release on the highest quality consoles in the market, Mortal Kombat X will be postponed on Xbox 360 and PS3.

As part of the development cycle designed to free up time and ensure quality, NetherRealm Studios looked to the outside for help with developing the upcoming Mortal Kombat. Unfortunately, this can occasionally cause delays with one studio that may not have been present with another, which is the case today with High Voltage announcing a release change to early Summer.

“Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment today confirmed that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X being developed by High Voltage Software will release this summer.”

Amazon.com has changed the official release date up to June 30th and the official trailer now no longer displays the logo for PS3 and Xbox 360, seemingly to reflect this release change. While this type of delay may be frustrating for fans of the platform, it is generally better to delay a title and ensure the highest quality than to rush something that isn’t ready to market.

PS4 and Xbox One versions of Mortal Kombat X are still scheduled to release on time this April.
