As the first patch of April, the fifth patch of Season 5 will update us on Darius heavily for the first time in a while. Following our own path, we here at PowerLeveled base our tier list on a four tier, statistically-backed system. These ratings are driven by kill-death, win-loss and pick-ban ratios.

As of patch 5.7, here are the major changes that we’re looking at:

As of patch 5.7, there are quite a few changes coming down, as is standard with League of Legends. This week there are far fewer than in the last two patches, so this week shouldn’t vary much from last if the statistics from last week even things out like we expect. As Bard had been very weak at launch and persisted through patch 5.6, this is his first major adjustments with a base AD and armor buff, as well as a huge increase to chime mana restoration – up from 8% to 12%. Meeps will also spawn faster and Bard is dealing slightly more damage with his Q starting with level 2. Given his absurdly poor win rates, let’s hope this brings him up into a more viable support role.

Blitzcrank’s mobility is changing significantly, where his flat movement buff from Overdrive is gone and traded for a movement buff twice the size which decays down to nothing, then leaves you with a 30% debuff afterward. This is meant to increase the risk-reward factor of Blitzcrank, leaving you out to dry if you’re not careful. Darius is returning to something of his old form, refunding mana on kill from his ultimate and allowing for a full reset at rank 3 if you secure that kill. Watch out for Darius, he’s getting a tier bump on this alone – at least.

Riot is looking to increase the early power of Evelyn in fights and plan to do so by giving her a flat +10 damage at all levels to her Hate Spike ability. This spell is already her bread and butter, so look out for Eve to potentially get a big bump, especially in early game as Riot intends. Fizz will feature move-around changes to his abilities, as the Seastone Trident [W] will now no longer apply the DOT effect directly, but rather apply the DOT in passive damage, scaling on level. Riot made this move in the opposite direction back in patch 5.2, Fizz leveled off his damage in a world with Deathfire Grasp. Without the DFG, they are looking to go back.

Garen’s ultimate will now cooldown on a significantly lower timer. Hecarim is losing a bit of regen universally. Kassadin’s Riftwalk has a reduced Empowered stack duration. Maokai will now restore less health below level 13. Nidalee has lowered health across all levels, including level 1. This rounds out all the “minor” changes to champions.

Rek’Sai is taking a damage nerf to Queen’s Wrath and will compensate with a better cooldown to using tunnels per level in “E”. Shen will also pick up a huge cooldown reduction to his ultimate in this patch, similar to the change to Garen. Tristana could get a big bump to note in this patch as our last champion to highlight. Tristana’s “Q” Rapid Fire will get a new trait, “Ultra Rapid Fire” applying a cooldown on Explosive Charge by 0.5 seconds per basic attack while applied. This effect doubles against champions, but the explosive charge will gain 0.5 seconds of cooldown per level over patch 5.6 Trist. This means that if you want to be effective, not only do you want to use Rapid Fire, but you HAVE to use it properly.

As a side-note, Lee Sin could have his win rate rise in the coming weeks thanks to a bug fix in patch 5.7. Lee Sin players may have been upset to find that at the highest level of Lee Sin play you could consistently find yourself with a bug-splat disconnected from the game for being excellent at “Ward Hopping”. Here’s a quick example of the bug that makes a big difference for top-level players:

The only major changes here to note are in Darius in Blitzcrank. For Darius, expect him to become as strong as he had previously, and we’ve given him a bump to match. Blitzcrank becomes something of a wild card, and we’ve given him a tentative drop this week. While he is very strong, any time a mechanical change comes into effect people will feel it and we can almost guarantee a win rate drop until gamers get a taste of these changes. Tristana isn’t going to move up this week out of the average tier despite the changes. Her stats could rise and she’s still not going to make her way past some of the other ADCs in the tier list. We’re keeping a close eye on these in the coming weeks and we’ll keep you updated in the next tier list.

Look forward to more Nerf Tier with the next League of Legends update exclusively on PowerLeveled – created for those interested in statistically supported and battle tested tier listings.
