The Xbox One is getting a new app today that lets gamers browse Reddit from their TVs. Major Nelson introduced ReddX on his blog as the all new app designed to keep you on your couch forever….or at least entertained. He also put together a video that goes over the features of ReddX.

Microsoft has been trying to win back the gaming community by focusing on games games games lately and now they are focusing on other aspects of most gamer’s daily routine. ReddX is a great idea and shows that Microsoft knows what the community likes, Reddit.

With ReddX you’ll be able to view any subreddit, make posts, upvote/downvote, view gifs, view videos, etc. The goal is to be able to interact similar to how you can on reddit.com and maybe try to improve image viewing or lurking. You’ll also be able to use either your controller or the Smartglass app to make posts. Another one of those improvements was by including Achievements based off of popular memes.

Thanks to ReddX, redditors can interact with each other in similar ways to the reddit.com experience, and in addition unlock unique media achievements named after some of the Internet’s favorite memes.

Luckily for you I was able to pull up all 9 (I think they could have done better) achievements from the Smartglass app.

The last one is intriguing. You can also find pics of Major Nelson posing for each meme HERE. In any case, ReddX probably won’t be the first place you go for your Reddit fix, but it is another option. Microsoft is finally starting to change there image and I hope that they release more apps that the community actually wants to see.
