Announced as part of The Game Awards presented by Geoff Keighley, Star Citizen has come to version 2.0.

Ending years of anticipation, First-Person Shooter aspects of Star Citizen will be finally available with the latest version, ready to download now to early backers in the PTU. As with many Star Citizen downloads available from Cloud Imperium Games, you’ll be downloading for quite some time if you’d like to get to shooting in zero gravity. As expected, Star Citizen’s Alpha testing phase continues with the addition of the FPS module and will result in some bugsmashing along the way. You’ll need to be a member of the Public Test Universe as well if you would like to enjoy version 2.0.

In order to get your hands on this, you should expect to have to run through a few hoops. First of all, this means that the FPS module will be full of glitches to help work out – assuming you get there. Secondly, you have to be accepted to the PTU and at this time that likely means having been an early contributor. With the launch not yet fully upon us, swapping to your PTU accounts might be the way to go in the coming weeks. We’ll keep you posted with more information as it becomes available, but until then check out the trailer above.
