For weeks people all around the world have been asking the same questions. Can we keep our characters from the Destiny Beta in the real game? If not, what do we get for playing? The answer to your question is finally here with this week’s Bungie Weekly Update.

With a combined goal of reaching out to every fan of Destiny and having the largest group of players ever concurrently online, Bungie is pulling out all the stops for this Saturday at 2 PM Pacific Standard Time. If you login to the Beta test at this time, there are a host of new and limited features that you’ll be able to get your eyes on, and play before the title launches in September. The first of which, likely most significant and original, we’ll finally be able to take some single player missions on the moon. While this means that we at PowerLeveled will have to expand on our Ghosts and Golden Chests guide, this most importantly means that you can finally step foot on the moon without fearing the wrath of every player around you in the crucible, and unlock just another little taste of what’s to come this fall.

Additionally, Bungie announced that those who login tomorrow at 2 PM will enjoy a permanent treat to show off in the final version of the game. With this Stress Participation Emblem permanently attached to your profile, your work in the Beta will be remembered for all time and users who missed out or adopted late can only revel in your glory. Bungie will close the moon base after only two hours of play, but may re-open the base every five hours on the same schedule as the Iron Banner competition has been opened — 10-12, 2-4, and 7-9 Local Time. No official word on this scheduling option was given by Bungie though, this is simply our prediction [update below.] There was no announcement of a level cap raise as predicted by some members of the community, and there is no hint of permanent character traits, levels, or gear transferring over to the final title – despite the fact that a Bungie spokesperson noted that this wasn’t impossible a week ago.

Bungie was also keen to note one of the most intriguing things about the Beta thus far. Reports have been given that the Beta test will close on the 27th by various media outlets, including ourselves. Bungie has no official closure of the Beta test slated for the 27th, and will close the test at their interest somewhere around the end of that day, but may extend it as they need to.

The Destiny Beta ends when we say it ends. For days now, press releases have circulated that foretold of the end on July 27th. The Wolf, our Theoretical Physicist, has told me that he wants some room to maneuver close to the conclusion of our little social experiment. So, I’m not telling you exactly when. Please play until we nail this thing shut.

Closing up shop, Bungie also discussed some changes to balance in Destiny with this weekly update. Specifically the tank in Destiny, the Interceptor feels unbalanced in the moon base “First Light,” and will have adjustments made before the launch of Destiny.

The Interceptor is a tank and should be treated with respect, but the Sandbox team made some tweaks to reduce the “apocalyptic firestorm” factor a bit. The largest change is a lower rate of fire, with an additional delay between shots. This encourages the pilot to take aimed shots instead of just spamming rockets. More subtle changes include reducing the rocket blast radius, and shrinking the “arming shape” that allows the rockets to airburst on flying targets.

Even with these changes, we felt that having two of them on First Light is less interesting than having a single Interceptor for both teams to fight over. At the start of each match, each team is given a single Pike, with another neutral Pike up for grabs. Additional Pikes will respawn throughout the match near the Control Zones. The Interceptor will spawn on a delay.

With Destiny just over a month away, Bungie will soon crack down on the final polishing of the title, and we’ll be on our way through the solar system. We look forward to destroying the forces of darkness with you, and we’ll see you in the Crucible.

Update: It seems like the Moon Mission isn’t available on the same schedule as the Iron Banner, but the Iron Banner was open for the entire day after 2 PM on Saturday – a nice change.
