Coming into the end of the PlayStation 3’s ten year life cycle, prices are ready to fall for the last-gen console. Announcing a new model and new price, the next PS3 will cost only ¥25,980 (approximately $253) in its home country of Japan, Sony revealed this week.
The all-new CECH-4300C model will take place of the current CECH-4000C “super slim” edition, according to a post by Siliconera. A significant drop off from the current ¥33,900 in Japan, the new model packs in the same 500 GB hard disk. Other models of PlayStation 3 will come to a halt with the new model’s release as well, including the 250 GB model, their 250 GB “Classic White” edition and the traditional 500 GB CECH-4200C model.
There is no global plan for price drop set, as the announcement is yet to be made from Sony. This new model hits Japanese shelves August 28th.
